Fender Bender (Ben Sartori) – since 2009
Personal:
- Nick Origin: Due to an argument with a car in Bender’s first few weeks with the 6am-ers
- Age/DOB: 37
- Height/Weight: 6’2″ / wt varies between 84-88kg depending on training, upcoming races and proximity of salt and vinegar chips
- Occupation: IT Project Manager
- Marital status: Married
- Kids: 2 girls who are 7 and 3, and a boy who’s 13 months
- Favourite quote/life motto: The success rate of not trying is exactly zero
Cycling:
- Year joined 6am-ers: 2009
- Introduced to 6am-ers by: Angles
- Cycling club: Hawthorn Cycling Club
- Current bike: Specialized Tarmac
- Why I ride? Ride to work, work to live, live to ride!
- Most significant cycling achievement: Toss up between 1 x Melb-Warny and 2 x Baw Baw Classics
- Podium race results: A few 2nd’s and 3rds in crits and vets road races, but still chasing that elusive win
- Major goal for the coming year: Get training back on track, sorting out the work\life\ride balance, get a decent result at the Kew crits this summer
- Favourite ride (non 6am-ers route): I have 2: Mt Hotham because of its epicness; and Boneo Rd on the Mornington Pennisula because of the luscious surface, that sensational cork-screw, the dips and pinches that follow and the staff at the Flinders Bakery at the end of the ride
- Favourite ride (6am-ers route): Arthur’s Creek or the Ronde van Readie; the “rouler” rides suits my strengths a lot more than other rides….especially my favourite section of 6am-ers road….the Kangaroo Ground to Warrandyte 5 minutes of Power SMASHFEST
- Favourite cycling event: HCC Wednesday night summer crits. The 6am-ers always make it a great night of racing, even if we don’t finish on the podium. On top of that it’s close to work and on the way home
