Gembrook
Gembrook is probably the most out & back route of any of the 6am-er rides. The ride takes in the picturesque surrounds of the Dandenong’s while closely following alongside the famous Puffing Billy railroad before doing a loop of the Gembrook race circuit previously used by the Blackburn Cycling Club.
This is the race circuit that is esteemed in 6am-er history, who could forget the Club Championships and the infamous 2-Laps incident, just don’t ask Shawy or Smithy what happened that day or how about Murph’s silver medal in the Gembrook Classic.
This ride may not seem particularly daunting to the uninitiated, but the team was jinxed for quite a time, never being able to fully complete the ride without falling foul of bad weather or mechanical mishap, so beware whenever this ride wins the poll for the Sun’dee group ride.
